Drew Blythe Barrymore was born on February 22, 1975, in Los Angeles. She comes from a well-known family in the film industry. She played Gertie in the famous movie E.T.: The Extraterrial at the age of seven, making her the youngest guest on Saturday Night Live. Barrymore made her debut on screen in the movie Altered States when she was only five years old.
Barrymore developed a preteen drug and alcohol addiction as a result of her mother, Jaid, taking her to nightclubs. She developed violent behaviours at the age of 13 and moved to her own flat at the age of 15, as she became emancipated from her mother.
Her reputation as a troublesome young star made it difficult for her to book movie jobs. Even so, Barrymore continued acting in the ‘80s and ‘90s. But it was in 1995 that Barrymore had a turning point in her career, becoming co-founder of Flower Films. She was one of Ghostface’s victims in the original Scream movie.
Eventually, in 2004, Barrymore received a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star.
Nowadays, Barrymore hosts The Drew Barrymore Show on CBS; it’s a daytime talk show. She took a step back on her acting career, now focusing on embodying the parent she had always dreamed of being, balancing Hollywood with her parenthood.
